As I got up this morning i thought about how it's now 2009 and there's a whole new year ahead. About all the possibilities God may have have in store. To see the new year as a time for a fresh start. But then He reminded me that with Him everyday is a new day and He is always giving me a fresh start. That I don't need to be hindered by the past, but to press on to what lies ahead. To live in the freedom He gave to me once I invited Him into my heart. Once we learn to let go of our worries, mistakes and fears and recognize that He has us covered and that He will provide, we can experience the freedom, peace and joy of the life He has for us. Make it a great year - with God all things are possible.

Phil 3:12-14 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Most of us download music, programs, videos, etc. from the Internet on a regular basis. We look over the file and then we get to choose whether or not to have it loaded onto our computer. If we choose to do so, the new song, program, etc becomes a part of our computer in a sense. It can now do things it couldn’t do before. It’s like that with God. We all have an opportunity to take a look at God’s Son Jesus and choose to accept Him or reject Him. If we accept Him, Jesus comes to live within our hearts – He is “downloaded” into us. And like our computers we have new information, new power, and the ability to live in a way we were unable to do on our own.

Just like we can download harmful or contaminated things onto our computers, we can also “download” or accept harmful things into our hearts as well. But if you choose to accept the ultimate download – the living God into your heart, your life will never be the same again…

Little did I realize as I left my home, my friends, and our ministry at our church in Minnesota that six months later I would begin working on a cd.

One of the most difficult things I've ever done was to leave all the security behind and move my family across the country. But I knew it was what we were supposed to do. I had no idea what the future held for us. I didn't even have a job when we left, but I had a peace knowing that God was with us as we took a huge step of faith. As we arrived in Arizona I wondered how I would provide for my family, we had two small children and I didn't want to let them down. That first year I only made twelve thousand dollars. As the sole provider it wasn't nearly enough, but somehow we never missed a meal and the bills were always paid. He never let us down, I still look back in amazement at how He faithfully provided for us, and surrounded us with some amazing people who were so supportive.

It was truly a miracle how we were provided for. But I also struggled at times wondering why God had lead us across the country. There must be a reason why we are here. Months went by as I prayed for an answer. Then it came. One day after counseling with our Pastor, he advised me to fully surrender my life into Gods hands. I thought I had already done that, but he showed me how I was still hanging on to some things. Hard things for me to let go of (my reputation, my future, my whole life). So I went out into the desert and prayed. I gave all of myself back to God. That's when the songs came.

It's been a year and a half in the making, and God has been faithful all the way. And He brought some incredible people into my life to make it all possible. Some of them I had never met before this project started, like bassist Steve Jernigan and drummer/engineer Ken Mary. I am grateful for these incredibly gifted people who have become my friends.

And it's amazing how these songs were written. The truth is, I can't really take credit for writing these songs. They were “downloaded” to me. Here’s the story of how it happened.

I would wake up early in the morning hearing music playing, and at first I thought it was my clock radio. Every time I sat up the music would stop. But when I laid my head back down and closed my eyes, I would hear the music again. As I paid close attention, I could hear the rhythm, the melody, and the lyrics. I got up, went to my desk, and wrote down the whole song in less than 30 minutes. This happened day after day. What you hear on this cd is what I heard as I lay in bed with my eyes closed. I have been a musician for over 20 years and written many songs of my own, but never experienced anything like this before. That is why I can honestly say, I didn’t write these songs, God “downloaded” them to me. So if you have received any hope, or been touched in any way by this music, please give your thanks to God through His Son Jesus Christ. I believe that I am just the messenger, but the message is from Him to you.
